Phone-hacking trial opens in UK The trial of the ex Chief Executive of News International Rebekah Brooks and some other associated with phone monitoring at News of the World will start at the court of Old Bailey here today.

Brooks is now in the dock with 7 other defendants that includes Andy Coulson and Husband Charlie.
This case is set to continue until April because about 100 witnesses were called.
Coulson and Brooks are accused of planning with others in order to get voicemails and carry out misconduct in some public office.
The trial is going to start with the selection of jury today and concentrate on allegations of misconduct at the NoW owned by Rupert Murdoch before it was shut down in 2011 following claims that some journalists hacked the cellphone of Milly Dowler.

Brooks who resigned from the News International, faces 5 charges in 10 years. Coulson who resided from Downing Street in 2011 faces 3 charges about his time as NoW’s editor.

Other defendants include Stuart Kuttner, an ex managing editor at “NoW’, Ceryl Carter, lan Edmondson, Rebekah Brooks, Clive Goodman, and Mark Hann.
Justice Saunders and the attorney general have sent warnings to media for reminding them so that they obey the stringent Contempt of Court Act rules in the state.
