Police launch cell phone app

A new smartphone app called MyPD has been rolled out by Methuen police. MyPD has a host of features for everyday users. In just a few seconds, you can access a list of phone numbers for different police departments. You can also read the latest tweets from the Twitter account @MPDBlotter or post crime tips. In addition, you can easily get updates on weather, emergencies, sex offenders and wanted persons.

The app was launched last Thursday. Tips posted by users about fire hydrants buried in the latest blizzard helped city officials dig out the hydrants in time.

You can download this app from the app store. It is compatible with Android and iPhone smartphones and is available free of charge. Once you have downloaded, installed and opened the app, you can find the phone numbers for your nearest police department by entering the city and state codes.
