The Xperia Z is a new quad-core phone by Sony. Unlike other smartphones, this one will not stop working if you accidentally drop it into a toilet or pool for a couple of seconds, although it is not completely waterproof.
The Xperia Z features a powerful Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core CPU and a 5-inch 1080p display. The handset is 7.9mm thick and is made from two sturdy slabs of tempered glass.
You can turn on its intelligent-auto and facial-recognition features to take sharp photos with ease. It also has a flash, so you can take photos at night as well. The pictures will be so good that you will not even notice they were taken at night.
Another good thing about this smartphone is that it runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean; however, it does not support Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The phone also offers a "stamina" mode. By turning this feature on, you can increase standby time fourfold. In this mode, the phone shuts down power-hungry apps when the screen is off and restarts them when the display lights up again.
Lastly, the Xperia Z also comes with the latest NFC (near-field communication) technology.
The handset's US release date has not yet been announced. According to official reports, however, the phone will be released globally in the early months of 2013. So at least we know that Sony is going to make it available soon.
