US mulling end to ban on in-flight cell phone calls On 22nd November, the FCC reported that it is going to make revisions to the outdated rules in order to enable airlines to allow passengers to talk to their loved ones by onboard phone system. Read on to know more about this good news.

According to news, the commission is going to review the proposal on 12nd December. Aside from this, even if the commission adopts new rules, the decision will be at the discretion of the airlines whether they want to let users to use other cellphone services while traveling.

The news further reveals that passengers were not allowed to use a mobile phone onboard by default. And the user was given permission only after the crew has taken steps and followed the rules set by FAA and FCC. In this case, the airplane’s wireless system is to used to make calls to other users in the world.

Until recently, passengers on planes were not allowed to talk to their family and friends by phone on account of security reasons. But now after the reconsideration of this proposal, people will be able to have phone calls with their friends without any restrictions. Let us see what happens down the road.
