Coast teen helps design safety tracking app

Cassandra Markus, a teenager, felt so unsafe on the Gold Coast that she created a free smartphone safety app with the help of her father, to let her family know her location.

"I was looking for an app that could alert my friends and family to my whereabouts and keep tabs on me when I am on the move, especially at night," she said. The app will give parents peace of mind, as they will be able to track the location of their children.

"The app lets you track the location of a smartphone in real time," her father said. "I want my daughter to have the app on standby for her next trip," he added.

The app took around five months to develop. You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to use it.

Mr Markus is going to upgrade the safety app in the near future. The new version will be able to alert the authorities as well.

If you are looking for an app that lets your family keep tabs on you and track your location, try out the My Safety Alert app today.
