The line between love and hate of mobile devices in America is hard to draw because of the mixed emotions associated with them. According to a new survey, there are many reasons people spend either a lot or a little time on these devices.

The Pew Internet Project survey found that 67 per cent of mobile device owners check their phones for calls, alerts and messages even when their phones have not rung. A further 44 per cent sleep close to their phones to make sure they do not miss any important message or call. Then there is 29 per cent who say they could not live without their phones. These are the people who are most aware of the love-hate relationship they have with their mobile devices.

However, the survey also reports on the negative effects of spending a lot of time with mobile devices. This is something 11 per cent of phone owners complained about, while 12 per cent are fully aware of how much time they spend on their mobile devices.
