Singapore gets indoor Google Maps

While reviewing a new Android smartphone, we came across a new feature in Maps, the map app by Google.

Google appears to have added indoor maps for the city of Singapore on the Android platform.

This feature was introduced in the US in 2011. If you are inside a large building, you can use the app to find your way. By zooming in, you can see the floor plan, level by level.

To date, only a few malls, such as ION Orchard, Centrepoint, Wisma Atria and Orchard Central, have this new feature. It is very useful for lost shoppers and tourists.

We tried Google Maps on Windows and iOS, but the feature does not seem to work on those platforms. For now, indoor maps appear to be available in specific locations in around 10 countries, including the USA, UK, Japan and Sweden, to name a few. Singapore is not on the list at the moment.

If you have an Android device, you can make use of this feature, especially in the locations mentioned above. Hopefully more cities will be added to Google Maps down the road. For now, people are appreciating the feature.
