Pregnant Women Should Avoid Using Mobile Phones

A recent study has urged women to be cautious about using cell phones during pregnancy. The study came from Dr Hugh Taylor of Yale School of Medicine. Taylor has long campaigned for limits on cell phone radiation and has advised governments around the world on the issue. He has also criticized telecom companies for misleading promotion and for failing to highlight proper cell phone use, in particular the practice of keeping a phone close to the body.

In the study, some pregnant mice were exposed to cell phone radiation, while others were kept completely free of it. All of them gave birth under normal conditions. When the offspring were studied, it was found that the babies of mice exposed to radiation were hyperactive and had weaker brains. They were less able to relate to their surroundings and showed less attachment to their mothers. On the other hand, everything was normal in the babies of the mice not exposed to radiation.

The research team will meet soon to discuss the report and plan further investigation. There have been many warnings about the use of cell phones by pregnant women. In fact, recent notices released by the WHO have flagged the possibility of cell phone radiation causing cancer.
