Lately, an Android developer found out about a hidden app named Carrier IQ, which comes in-built in most of today’s smartphones. This app tracks your location and keeps records of every single key your press on your phone. The downside is that you have no control over this app. The app seems to be invading into your privacy.
The thing is that this invasive application seems reasonable at face value. The interesting thing is that the app is installed on most of Blackberry, Nokia and Android phones, the majority of users do not know that this app is working in the background.
This week, the app developer named Eckhart launched a 17 minutes long video displaying how much details the CarrierIQ gathers. The app can even log text message contents. The Android developer posted this footage on Tuesday and expressed his concerns about the activities of his clandestine app.
This week, Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission signed an agreement. According to this agreement, the social network have to make all their new apps opt-in in order to prevent them from breaking the low or violating privacy of users.
